You will loose the adjustable pitch feature on the Kuat Grip # GRR4B when using the T-Channel Mount Kit # GRDMK because the adjustable pitch happens on the clamping feet only. With that being said, unless you're worried about the clearance between your roof and the skis/snowboard or want to mount to the T-Channels, you won't need to use the T-Channel kit. There are quite a few differences between boxes and baskets. A Roof mounted cargo box is going to keep your items out of the elements whereas a basket would need an additional cargo bag to keep your items from the weather.
